Terms and Conditions for Schools, Builders or Contractors

OPERATING HOURS:

  • Graphiclines trades MONDAY TO FRIDAY during the school term.
  • To help get your job done quickly and with as little inconvenience to your school or Builders agenda, Graphiclines will need to be on site anywhere between 6.am to 6pm and 8.30 pm summertime. As these hours may be outside the normal operating times of cleaners or out of school carers, keys to the gates (and toilet if possible) will need to be provided to us so we can lock up gates at night and open again in the morning.
  • If we are running behind schedule due to heavy workloads or bad weather, we may ELECT to do your job on a Sunday at no extra charge, with the same conditions as above regarding a gate key.
  • Graphiclines are Closed Friday nights through to Saturday night. We can go to site on a Saturday night again with access and keys.

PAYMENT:

  • All work must be paid for on the actual day of completion unless other arrangements have been organised. Payment can be made by a School, Builder or Contractor delegate. Failure to meet these terms and conditions will VOID any discounts and attract a 30% loading after 7 (seven) days.
  • All Builders and Contractor quotes less than $1,000 will commence once payment has been received.
  • All Builders or Contractor quotes over $1,000 will commence when 50% of the quote has been received.
  • Priority Booking System (PBS) relates to any School, Builder or Contractor work done during any school holiday break. PBS work requires a 50% deposit which automatically enables client Priority Bookings and Preferential Treatment during the holiday period.

HOLIDAY WORK:

  • We usually accept no more than 4 schools per mid-year holidays, and no more than 10 schools for the Christmas holidays. If School holiday work is agreed on, conditions will apply:
  • Schools or Businesses selecting the PBS system will get Priority Bookings.
  • Graphiclines must be supplied with keys to the gates and a toilet not governed by security (if possible) before the start of the holidays. Alternatively, a school may supply the names and contact numbers of AT LEAST one school delegates who may be able to come up to the school on the day to open up and close facilities.
  • Holiday bookings are governed by weather conditions, therefore, schools booked through the PBS system will be arranged as per the weather at the time to hopefully be completed during the holiday break.

WAITING LISTS:

  • Due to the popularity of our artwork, we regularly get booked well in advanced, especially if there is bad weather that delays the progress of the queuing system. When we have received an official order request from a school, we will place you on the waiting list. As we progress through the queue, we will let you know about your progression. Our work is fully weather dependent therefore we can only give schools estimated dates when planning the commencement of work. We will give your school as much notice as possible, including 1 day in advance to make sure it is convenient for work to start, if possible. If this starting date is not convenient then the negotiation process will restart.
  • Weather information will be obtained from the BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY, to govern whether or not it is worth the risk to travel to a certain area. As well as not to risk the quality of work or inconvenience the school, if the weather forecast shows any chance of showers or rain for your area, we will not commence scheduled work. In colder months, this may also affect each day either side of this wet period to allow the ground to fully dry. If your scheduled work has been estimated to take 2 days or longer, we will require a forecast of consecutive days of good weather before we will commence work so it does not inconvenience the school’s playground any longer than it should.
  • If weather in your area does stop us from commencing work at your school, we reserve the right to go to a school from another area that is not affected by weather ahead of you, and we will come back to your job as a priority or as soon as conceivably possible.

PRE-PREPARATION – Surface Cleaning:

SITE INSPECTIONS:

  • Sometime prior to commencing the work, Graphiclines will fill out a SITE INSPECTION FORM pointing out anything about your playground and its surface that may affect the longevity or safety of the painted artwork. This is so we have information in the future with regards to your school. Schools can photocopy this information if they deem it necessary.
  • Schools that choose to have areas cleaned by high pressure cleaners, or go ahead with any recommended preparations to the grounds made by Graphiclines in the SITE INSPECTION FORM (such as etching or water cleaning), MUST have this work done by their own organisation and expense and must be completed at least 2 days prior to the commencement of work to assure adequate drying of the surfaces receiving artwork.
  • If we find that there is major reason why we can’t paint on the surfaces allocated and cannot find another suitable location for an individual game and/or the package chosen, Graphiclines will allow the school to either change its order or cancel the order fully at no cost to the school. The school will NOT be charged for any inconvenience.
  • Schools may choose to go ahead with the painted artwork on their surfaces or without doing any of the recommended preparations as stated in the SITE INSPECTION FORM, however in doing so, schools must realise that this will void the Guarantee (see “Guarantee”).
  • Any delays caused by these preparations at our arrival on the day of commencement will be charged out at $100p/h or days lost/travel costs of $500p/day (DEMURAGE).

INTERRUPTIONS:

  • All Interruptions caused by the school-such as fire drills, assemblies, bad behaviour, cleaning up excessive rubbish, tradesman working in same area, cleaners wetting down areas that needed to be painted- can all affect the work schedule and can even make the estimated completion time go over by not just hours, but days. In some cases, work may not be able to even commence. For these reasons, Schools must notify Graphiclines well in advanced if they know of anything that may cause interruptions on the day work is scheduled, or otherwise may risk being billed for hours lost at $100p/h or days lost/travel costs of $500p/day if we do arrive at the school and our day is interrupted.   (DEMURAGE).

EXTRA SUPERVISION/OBSERVATION OF BALL GAMES:

  • Extra supervision is requested at the beginning of school, recess, lunch and home-time to assure no one walks through the areas roped off. In specific cases, parents and very young children who are unaware that painting is taking place. Schools with troublesome or special needs children should also allocate a teacher to be present around the painted areas around these times.
  • No BALL GAMES should be played in the areas that are being painted while the painting is in process. Stray balls can run through the wet paint spoiling not only the game but its surrounding grounds and /or could knock over paint tins.

ASSEMBLY AREAS:

  • Assembly areas, meeting points and class lines that are affected by the painting will need to be re-routed whilst painting is taking place and until paint is fully cured.

ROPING OFF AREAS:

  • Graphiclines will supply a fluorescent flexible tape that we wind around poles, trees, bins, chairs or gates to rope off the areas that get painted. This tape can be left at the site until the drying process is complete, and then can be thrown away after use at no charge to any school. We may require extra chairs, tables or bins to do this if the games are spread over the school and not in one area. If any other fencing is required by the school, it is to be supplied and erected at the expense of the school, and must be erected around the paintable sites at least 2 days prior to the work commencing, or on the day that Graphiclines commence work in conjunction with Grounds people associated with the school.

CURING, COPYRIGHT, REPAINT and ADVERTISING:

CURING:

  • Painted artwork will require at least one if possible two full days after the painting is finished to cure before playing can commence unless otherwise stated by Rei Joseph.

COPYRIGHT

  • The artworks will remain the property of Graphiclines until full payment is made. The copyright of the designs will ALWAYS remain the property of Brighterlines and this copyright must be respected.
  • Due to the uniqueness and copyright nature of the designs, each original design painted on the ground must have a small “©” symbol placed nearby. To accompany these tags, we will also need to put down a small circle with the words to the effect of “Brighterlines ©  and the current year” closest to the main saturation of our copyright designs in the playground. In most cases, we can turn this tag into some sort of a free game for you, such as ‘a clock’ picture 18 in the Games Catalogue section above.
  • Schools that will not allow us to put down such a tag can only choose games from our basic non-copyrighted selection (plain hopscotch grids, basic jumping and spelling games etc.).

REPAINTING OF THE ARTWORK:

  • At some stage your designs will need rejuvenation and we prefer for all artwork to be repainted by us again as we have the right paints and colours to restore them to their true potential, as well as the known process to get the best results in longevity for your pre-purchased product. However, we DO give permission for groundsmen or working bees to repaint our designs when needed, PROVIDED THAT our copyright disclaimer that is painted on the ground remains fully visible by either leaving it as is or by repainting it word-for-word. Removing or Re-painting over these games as to make it no longer visible will be breaching copyright. Schools should be aware that if they chose to repaint the games themselves at a later stage, the use of wrong materials may make the games unsafe as well as heighten the chances of the paint to peel, and may make the artworks unable to be rectified by us if not painted correctly.  We DO NOT Give permission for any other company to remark our designs – doing so will be a breach of copyright.
  • Schools should inform REI JOSEPH if their school playground featuring our designs is going to appear in any websites, newspapers, television ads or shows or anywhere that may be in public viewing as INCIDENTAL PLACEMENTS. If pictures and/or an article is written about our work at your school in a newspaper, or similar media, we would request out of courtesy that a copy is sent to Graphiclines for our records. All public publications will need to acknowledge that the work has been done by Graphiclines in association with Brighterlines and is COPYRIGHT TO Brighterlines 2018.
  • Advertising companies or similar wishing to use the actual designs to help promote or sell a product MUST contact REI JOSEPH before filming or shooting commences to obtain written permission.

PLAYSHEETS:

  • In most cases Rei Joseph will provide your school with a PLAYSHEET to accompany each of the designs we have painted at your school. These Play sheets are also COPYRIGHT© Brighterlines 2018 and are for the use within your school only. We give your school permission to Photocopy these play sheets and turn into booklets with the proviso that:
  • The copyright disclaimer page is used at the front of each booklet made
  • It stays within the school and is not passed on by any form such as fax, email or scanned to any parent, company or other school.

PAINT CHOICES

  • Graphiclines has done extensive research and experimentation with various types of paints that took COLOUR QUALITY, longevity and safety into consideration. This included talks with paint technicians from the companies who actually made the paints and trials with different paint products. From our research, we will be using a product that is:
    • A hard wearing oil-based, lead-free paint product that allows us to get the vibrant colours needed for the artworks, as well as providing good coverage and sufficient longevity using ONE COAT of background paint and another coat for outline work involving numbers and letters.
    • With the use of non-slip additives and sand, our product offers as much resistance to slip as other such labelled paint products.

Graphiclines gives Schools with any concerns with our paint choice the opportunity to nominate the type of paint they deem suitable for this application if they do not want to use the product we supply. Schools that choose to nominate their own paint choice will;

  • need to declare this choice at the site inspection or well in advance of work commencing so as we can order the paints in and we can adapt the invoice to suit.
  • need to add an additional $1000+GST to $1300+GST (depending on the size of the package and/or type of paint chosen) to their Package total to cover paints, materials and extra work needed to apply.
  • choose from a limited choice of designs as some paints are harder to apply than others. Colour will vary greatly to those shown on the website and in the colour catalogue due to the restricted range of colours some paint brands have.
  • by choosing to use another type of paint product other than the brand we commonly use and recommend, Graphiclines WILL NOT GIVE ANY GUARANTEE on the effectiveness of the non-slip, longevity or appearance of the artworks when finished.
  • Graphiclines will endeavour to do everything possible to make the artworks as safe as possible not only by using non slip additives and sand in their paint product, but by placing artworks away from well-known slippery surfaces such as major sloping areas, tops of stairs or smooth cement areas. We will purposely avoid tripping obstacles such as seating, tree roots, gullies, drains, poles, trees, flower beds and areas where children are most likely to run or trip over.
  • DECLARATION: Graphiclines would also like to declare that our paint product IS NOT “THE AUSTRALIAN STANDARD NON-SLIP PAINT”. It is a flat water based product that technicians from the company that actually manufactured it recommended through the research conducted. No matter what paint product is chosen, whether it be our regular paint product, one that has been chosen by the school or one supplied by another company, schools must realize that ANY PAINTED SURFACE CAN POTENTIALLY BE SLIPPERY WHEN WET, and all care should be taken when surfaces are wet.

SCHOOLS ELECTING TO GET ANY PAINTED PRODUCT ON THEIR SCHOOL PLAYGROUND SURFACE MUST ACCEPT OWNERSHIP AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR HAVING SUCH ARTWORK WITHIN THE SCHOOL.

  • Designs and colours may vary slightly from school to school, and may need to be adapted to suit the surface of the playground.
  • Graphiclines will provide ONE COAT of background colour which acts like the undercoat for the outlining and numbers/letters, and ONE COAT for the letters/numbers/outlines. (please see site inspection sheet for more details)
  • Schools should be aware that on some surfaces, backgrounds colour may soak in a bit on some surfaces more so than others. If this is the case, Graphiclines will notify the schools representative to advise ways in which we can minimize the effect of this. The most common method usually is substituting games with weaker colours such as yellows and whites with games using stronger colours such as blues and greens.
  • A Second coat of background colour is not recommended at the time of the games being put down on the ground, as it will make the painted surface spongy and easily to scuff in its earliest stages of life. However, if this is required by the schools thinking, an extra fee of 40% to each game itemized will be charged to the school.
  • It is recommended that designs get another coat at least every four years after the initial designs have been painted. Graphiclines can offer this service for a discounted price of 20% from the itemized price of each design, depending on the condition of the game. However, if your school would like to do this yourself, schools should be aware that if they chose to repaint the games themselves at a later stage, the use of wrong materials may make the games unsafe as well as heighten the chances of the paint to peel, and may make the artworks unable to be rectified by us if not painted correctly.

GUARANTEE

  • Surfaces and conditions at each school are different, and because of the nature of the games and the treatment they attract, it is hard to predict longevity of the artwork. Games and designs are expected to scuff and/or fade to some degree over time, especially if exposed to UV light. However, if a game IS UNPLAYABLE WITHIN ONE YEAR, Graphiclines will come back and repaint that game for free. This guarantee is NOT VALID for those areas we have stated as high risk on the SITE INSPECTION FORM or games that have been re-painted by a third party with any other product we have not supplied or recommended. Repainting games under this warranty period will take place at Graphiclines’ convenience and when we are in your immediate area.

PRICING

  • Graphiclines try to keep our prices on most games unchanged, however advertised prices on some designs may change without notice. However, once a price is quoted to your school, our policy is to give it to you for that price under any circumstance.
  • As schools can claim the GST portion back, we have been requested to show the prices advertised EXCLUDING GST. When totally up your order, please add 10% GST to the advertised prices, remembering that your school will receive the GST portion back from the government. GST can be seen on quotes and invoices.
  • Prices on the price list sheet are based on our usual service of providing one coat of background colour and one coat of outlining and one coat of lettering or numbers using our based product within your service area.
